Not fewer than four persons have been reportedly killed as gunmen launched a deadly attack on Kabba Correctional Centre in the early hours of Monday
Four military men who were among the soldiers manning the roadblock which is about 50 metres from the correctional centre lost their lives while unspecified numbers of inmates escaped
Confirming the incident, the Assistant Inspector General of Police incharge of Zone 8, Ayuba Edeh, said the State Commissioner of Police and other heads of security agencies are taking necessary action to contain the ugly development.
Also speaking to our correspondent on phone, the State Security Adviser, Navy Commander, Jerry Omadara said the commissioner of police and other heads of security agencies in the state were on their way to scene of the crime for on- the-spot assessment.
He said the commissioner of police will brief press on the matter soon
